image2As we get closer to opening night of Bay Area premiere of Heathers: The Musicalwe will be introducing you to our amazingly talented cast. Each week pop on by to meet some of the faces you’ll see on the first day of senior year at Westerberg High!

We’re thrilled to welcome Andy Rotchadl to Ray of Light AND the Bay Area–he’s a recent transplant from Minnesota. Since he moved here, he’s been involved with many theatres in the area: SF Playhouse, CMT San Jose, and Los Altos Stage.

Join us as we learn a little more about Andy, aka Kurt’s Dad / Veronica’s Dad / Principal Gowan.

1. As we mentioned above, Andy is new to the Bay Area! He grew up in Mankato, MN, a small college town of fifty thousand people about an hour and a half south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. If you see him out and about, say hi! We hear Midwesterners are friendly 🙂

2. Andy is no stranger to the stage, he’s been performing since he was a child in the children’s chorus at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

image53. Currently, Andy is attending Notre Dame de Namur University. He’s studying voice with an emphasis in musical theatre.

4. As you miiiight have guessed, Andy is musically inclined. In addition to singing and acting, he also plays the guitar. Fun fact: he used to be in a classic rock cover band!

5. Andy is a proud motorcycle rider. PSA: Don’t be one of those jerks who changes lanes quickly without looking!

Don’t miss Andy in his Ray of Light debut this May! Heathers: The Musical runs from May 22nd through June 13th at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets are available at Rayoflighttheatre.com/Heathers.

Five Things You Didn’t Know About…Lizzie Moss

IMG_0134As we count down to the opening of the Bay Area premiere of Heathers: The Musicalwe thought it would be fun to introduce you to our amazing cast. Tune in every week to say hello to some of the faces you’ll see on the first day of senior year at Westerberg High!

We’re thrilled to welcome Lizzie, a Bay Area native, back to Ray of Light — she appeared in the West Coast premiere of Yeast Nation last fall. Lizzie’s other recent credits include Les Miserables, Dreamgirls and Evita.

Without further ado, here are five things you didn’t know about Lizzie Moss, aka Heather McNamara.

1. Baby, she was born this way. And by this way, we mean with only one kidney. That’s right — Lizzie only has her right kidney, because her left one never developed.

2. Lizzie suffers from Ophidiophobia and PeeWeeHermanphobia. That is correct, she has a crippling fear of snakes and PeeWee Herman.

3. Try as she might, Lizzie’s unable to wink with her left eye. Could this somehow be tied to her missing kidney? We are clearly not scientists, but this does pose an interesting question…

4. The two main food groups in Lizzie’s food pyramid are avocados and cheese.

5. Shhhhh….Lizzie is actually a mermaid.

Don’t miss Lizzie take the stage as Heather McNamara in Heathers: The Musical this May! Heathers runs from May 22nd through June 13th at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets are available at Rayoflighttheatre.com/Heathers.

2. Marie from the Aristocats is Abby’s favorite Disney character. Full of sass, but remains a lady.

abby13. Abby’s two favorite places in the world are Disneyland (is this a trend? We smell a cast outing…) and Monterey.

4. You won’t find Abby hanging in the theatre after hours, she’s completely terrified of ghosts!

5. Abby’s favorite director is Quentin Tarantino. Kill Bill and Inglorious Bastards are her favorite go-to movies when she wants to chill out.

Although this is Nick’s Ray of Light debut, he is no stranger to the stage. Most recently, he has appeared in Forever Plaid (PCRT), James and the Giant Peach (Bay Area Children’s Theatre), and Zombie the Musical (Awesome Theatre).

Without further ado, here are five things you didn’t know about Nick Quintell, who plays Ram Sweeney, one of the bullies at Westerberg High.

1. A baby born with teeth sounds like something right out of a horror movie, but it happens and Nick is proof! He entered the world proudly sporting one tooth.

2. If you’re looking for a buddy to roadtrip to Disneyland with, Nick will always be your guy. He’s a huge fan. Special shoutout to Donald Duck and Dumbo, who are his favorite characters.

image_23. This summer, Nick will be taking his first ever trip outside of the continental U.S. He’s traveling to Shanghai, China with Bay Area Children’s Theatre to perform in Pasek and Paul’s James and the Giant Peach.

4. Nick has very strong feelings about baseball and football. He’s a diehard A’s and Steelers fan.

5. Some of Nick’s very favorite things include: gummy bears, long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, and warm hugs.

As we count down until the opening of the Bay Area premiere of Heathers: The Musical, we thought it would be fun to introduce you to our amazing cast. Tune in every week to say hello to some of the faces you’ll see on the first day of senior year at Westerberg High!

Without further ado, here are five things you didn’t know about Jessica Fisher, who plays Ms. Flemming/ Veronica’s Mom. Jessica is a San Francisco native who started playing the piano at the age of three. She grew up thinking she was destined to be a concert pianist, but one audition for San Francisco School of the Arts changed everything–she was accepted as a vocal major, did her first musical freshman year, and the rest is history (and we’re so glad)!

1. Do NOT mess with Jessica. She has black belts in two different style of martial arts.

2. Jessica is a competitive rower and one of the captains of the East Bay Rowing Club women’s team based in Oakland. Most mornings she wakes up at 4:30 to practice. We’re not quite sure how she manages to survive on such little sleep. Late night rehearsals + early mornings = one tough act!

3. Jessica and her wife Valerie have been married three times!  They celebrate two of their wedding anniversaries and their dating anniversary EVERY year. Jessica says, “If you’re as lucky in love as we are, you should celebrate as often as you can!” (We agree 100%.)

4. According to Jessica, her 19-year-old daugther, Carmina, is pretty much the most AWESOME human being on the planet. And, she was totally worth every second of the 2 1/2 days of labor she went through!

5. Jessica is half Puerto Rican. Trust her on this one–those hips don’t lie.

Don’t miss Jessica in  Heathers: The Musical this May! Heathers: The Musical runs from May 22nd through June 13th at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets are available at Rayoflighttheatre.com/Heathers.

You may remember Teresa from the West Coast premiere of Yeast Nation last fall, where she played Jan-the-Sly or in NCTC’s Avenue Q where she played Christmas Eve earlier this year.

Without further ado, here are five things you didn’t know about Teresa Attridge, who plays Girl #2 (her favorite number, how lucky!)

1. Teresa saw The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King not once, not twice, but fourteen times in theaters.

2. Don’t let her on-stage persona fool you. In 2008, Teresa was the top creative writing student in California according to the National Coalition of the Teachers of English, then went on to win Outstanding Honorable Mention at Nationals.

3. Teresa’s spirit animal is Pikachu.

4. The first time Teresa ever sang in front of an audience was when she was six. She stole the microphone from the emcee at a luau and refused to give it back.

5. Teresa likes her burritos with carnitas, refried black beans, mild AND medium salsa, guacamole, no cheese, and no sour cream. You know, in case you ever feel like buying her a burrito.

Don’t miss Teresa’s return to Ray of Light in Heathers: The Musical this May! Heathers: The Musical runs from May 22nd through June 13th at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets are available at Rayoflighttheatre.com/Heathers.
