Yeast Nation Cast
Teresa Attridge (Jan-the-Sly) is super excited to be making her Ray of Light debut in Yeast Nation! Past credits include Christmas Eve in Avenue Q (NCTC); both Hedwig and Yitzhak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Van’s Sister in Dog Sees God, and the Chorus Swing for The Speakeasy (all with Boxcar Theatre); and Alicia in The Wave (The Marsh). She has trained at A.C.T. and with the Summer Theatre Institute at Juilliard. Much love to her teachers, friends, families, and all involved with this production!
Joshua Beld (Chorus 1) has performed various compramario and ensemble roles with Opera San Jose, Lamplighters Music Theatre, Goat Hall Opera and many others. His background before college was strongly based in musical theatre and he is very happy to be getting back in touch with his musical roots.
Melinda Campero (Ensemble) is thrilled to be a part of the cast of Yeast Nation! She was recently seen in independent San Francisco productions of A New Brain (Rhoda & Homeless Lady), A Little Night Music (Charlotte & Fredrika) and The 25th Annual Spelling Bee (Logainne). Her last production with Ray of Light was 2012’s The Full Monty (Susan). Other favorite roles in include Ronny in HAIR, Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, Kit Kat girl in Cabaret and Housewife in Assassins. When she’s not on stage, Melinda works in digital marketing for Edelman in San Francisco.
Jesse Cortez (Chorus 6) is member of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and winner of Best Showtunes Cabaret 2013 at Martuni’s. His credits include Pearls over Shanghai (Thrillpeddlers), Christmas with the Crawfords (Lincoln Theater), and Dirty Little Showtunes! (NCTC). He is extremely excited to work with Ray of Light Theater and this talented cast. Danny Cozart (Jan-the-Elder) is back working with Ray of Light after playing Sam Byck in Assassins and Nick in Baby and singing in the Sondheim cabaret. Other credits include: Norbert in Trailer Park (OMG); John Hinkley Jr. in Assassins (Shotgun); Cinderella’s Prince in Into The Woods, Franz Libkind in The Producers, Man 2 in Songs for a New World, The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of OZ (Diablo Theatre Company); Jamie in The Last 5 Years (Masquers); John Wilkes Booth in Assassins (Solano College); Corny Collins in Hairspray, Bobby in Urinetown (Tri-Valley Rep); Sammy in The Wedding Singer, Barfee in Spelling Bee (Willows); Pseudolus in Forum (Ohlone Summerfest); Lockstock in Urinetown and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Los Positas College).
Roy Eikleberry (Jan-the-Wretched/Ensemble), a 2011 graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, has been working throughout the Bay Area as an actor, singer, director, and producer for the past three years. He recently worked with Mojo Theater as a writer and actor for Partyiac Arrest (A cabaret/improv show). Other credits: Three Penny Opera, Waffle Opera (Tiger Brown), Du Barry was a Lady, 42nd Street Moon (Chorus); She Loves Me, Cinnabar Theater (Georg); Lost Love, Mojo Theatre (French Art Film Guy); Susanna, Parlor Opera (Elder McLean); and The Great Gatsby, Opera Parallèle (Minister). Roy is also a member of the three hundred strong San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus.
David Glazer (Jan-the-Youngest) is thrilled to be a part of Yeast Nation, making his Ray of Light Theatre debut. Some of his favorite theatre credits include A Chorus Line (Greg), CARRIE the Musical (George), Twisted Fairytales (Red/Crispin), Into the Woods (Ensemble), Urinetown (Tiny Tom), You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Charlie Brown), The Sound of Silence (Ensemble), and Seminar (Douglas). He graduated from the American Musical and Dramatics Academy NY and is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree at SFSU. He is so grateful to be able to perform on stage again and thanks his family and friends for helping him on his journey.
Celia Jones (Chorus 4) is ecstatic to be making her Ray of Light debut in Yeast Nation! A recent Bay Area transplant, her local theatre credits include Trix the Aviatrix in The Drowsy Chaperone at Contra Costa Civic Theatre, Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes at Curtain Call Performing Arts, and a Storyteller in CCCT’s Children of Eden. Some of her favorite rolls include Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago, and Mae Coleman in Denver, CO’s Regional Premiere of Reefer Madness. When she’s not on stage, Celia is working for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, watching baseball, and hanging out with her husband, Christopher, and dog and cat, Alabama and Edward. Celia is thankful and excited to work with such a talented cast and crew and hopes you have an amazing time at the bottom of the primordial sea!
Mary Kalita (The New One/Ensemble) is thrilled to be returning to ROLT after previously appearing in The Who’s Tommy (Sally Simpson) and choreographing The Full Monty. Past favorites include A Chorus Line (Val), Cats (Bombalurina), Gypsy (June), and Little Shop of Horrors (Chiffon) at Broadway By the Bay; Guys and Dolls (Adelaide), Singin’ in the Rain (Lina), Legally Blonde (Brooke Wyndham) and Shrek (Pinocchio) at Diablo Theatre Company; and Chicago (Velma) and Singin’ in the Rain (Lina) at CMTSJ Marquee. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Millikin University.
Juliana Lustenader (Jan-the-Famished) is a proud graduate of San Francisco State University’s Theatre Arts Department. Her most recent Bay Area shows include The Crucible (Abigail), Evita (Ensemble), Chorus Line (Val), Red Virgin (Clemence), and Spring Awakening (Wendla). Yeast Nation is her first Ray of Light production, but she has worked with many Bay Area companies, such as Custom Made Theatre Co., Broadway By the Bay, Shotgun Players, Foothill Musical Theatre, Central Works, Ragged Wing Ensemble, Do It Live! Productions and 99 Stock. In her free time she enjoys playwriting, writing music, and knitting.
Courtney Merrell (Jan-the-Sweet) is elated to be back with Ray of Light this season. Her previous Ray of Light credits include Sue Snell in CARRIE the Musical and Cinderella in Into the Woods. In San Francisco she has also had the great pleasure of singing the role of Bryce in the workshop concert of The Cable Car Nymphomaniac by Tony Asaro produced by FOGG Theatre Company. Her other credits include Moll in The Cradle Will Rock, Cherie in Bus Stop, Titania/Hippolyta in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ophelia in Hamlet, Rose/Snake/Fox in The Little Prince, all with Oberlin Summer Theater Festival; Viola/Cesario in Twelfth Night with St. Louis Shakespeare; Athena in The Odyssey with the McCarter Theatre. She has a BMus and a BA from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music.
Lizzie Moss (Chorus 5) is so happy to be making her Ray of Light debut with Yeast Nation. She was most recently seen in the ensemble of Broadway By the Bay’s production of Evita. Since moving back home Lizzie has played the title role in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and was involved in the past several shows with Lamplighters Music Theatre, with favorites including Celia in Iolanthe, Sacharissa in Princess Ida and Anna Upside Downton Abbey, a “Downton Abbey” spoof. She is a graduate of the New York City campus of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
Heather Orth (Jan-the-Unnamed) is pleased as punch to be back at Ray of Light following her appearance as the slightly overbearing Margaret White in last season’s CARRIE the Musical. Other favorite roles include Rose in Gypsy (twice!), Grizabella in Cats, The Stepmother in Cinderella, and the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods. Kevin Singer (Jan-the-Second-Oldest) has been performing since he was a wee lad. Most recently, he appeared in Macbeth at Fort Point, with We Players. Earlier this year, he appeared in Of Mice and Men and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris at Cinnabar Theater. In previous years, he has appeared in his own, semi-original cabaret titled: Music That Might Make You Eargasm, as well as several regional productions including Hedwig and the Angry Inch at Boxcar Theatre, Assassins at Shotgun Players, and Sweeney Todd and Assassins here at Ray of Light Theatre. He was also involved in productions of Arms and the Man and Twelfth Night with Foreplayers’ Theatre Co and Hamlet on Alcatraz with We Players.
Lindsay Stark (Ensemble) is stoked to be making her ROLT debut in Yeast Nation! She most recently appeared as Elizabeth Benning in Young Frankenstein with Palo Alto Players. Other recent favorites include Joseph… Dreamcoat (Narrator), Miss Saigon (Ellen), Guys and Dolls (Adelaide), Oliver with Broadway By the Bay, Ragtime, Les Miz, the West Coast Premiere of Edges: A New Song Cycle, and the New York premiere of Once Upon an Ever After. Outside the theater, Lindsay enjoys working as a creative arts therapist and rockin’ it out on the acoustic guitar.
Mischa Stephens (Jan-the-Wise) is thrilled to make his debut with Ray of Light in this role. His recent credits include Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar (WVLO) and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables (SBMT). Other roles include Motel in Fiddler On the Roof (Woodside Community Players) and Houdini in Ragtime (SBMT).
Aaron Vanderbeek (Ensemble) is tremendously excited to return to the stage with Ray of Light Theatre after dying repeatedly in CARRIE the Musical last season! Vanessa Vazquez (Chorus 2) is making her Ray of Light DEBUT! That’s a big deal, and she’s honored to be part of this company. As an LA Native, a Groundlings and UC Santa Cruz graduate, and a strict vegetarian, Vanessa appreciates adding joy and comedy to the world. You may or may not have experienced joy at other shows: SHREK (Berkeley Playhouse), Oklahoma (Ado Annie), Marin Murder Mysteries, Bat Boy! Ted Zoldan (Chorus 3) last appeared with Ray of Light as Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods and was also seen in ROLT’s award-winning production of Assassins. He’s thrilled to be back. Ted is a native of Los Angeles and a graduate of San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Favorite roles at SFCM and elsewhere include Harry in Company, Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee, Jimmy in 110 in the Shade, Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brownand several roles in Urinetown. More recently, Ted was seen in the world premiere Boxcar Theater’s The Speakeasy, where he created the role of Kirby Witt. Also a director and writer whose work has been seen at SF Pocket Opera and the University of Florida, Ted is a founding member of Waffle Opera.
